Raster vs Vector

Raster vs Vector

Raster Images
These are the varieties of images that are created when scanning or photographing an object. Raster images are composed using pixels, or tiny dots, including unique color and tonal information that collectively form the image. Since raster images are pixel-based, they are resolution-dependent.

Vector Images
A vector graphic is an artwork composed of points, lines, and curves based upon mathematical equations rather than solid colored square pixels. This implies no matter the size or how far zoomed in the picture is, the lines, curves, and points remain smooth.

When should you utilize raster or vector? Raster images are best for photos, while vectors are best for logos, illustrations, engravings, etchings, product artwork, signage, and embroidery. We only use vector images to get the best logo for your shirts, business cards, etc.
